Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a deep-tissue healing modality used in traditional Chinese medicine. Cups are applied to the skin using suction and placed in strategic locations, often on specific acupuncture points, or directly on or around the site of pain.

Cupping not only helps alleviate muscle spasms and tension but also stimulates Qi and blood circulation, facilitating the body's natural healing processes. This powerful treatment has a wide range of applications, such as detoxification, sports injury recovery, headache relief, and more.

Dry Needling (Trigger Point Acupuncture)

Dry needling (trigger point acupuncture) involves direct manipulation of tightly contracted muscles, or knots, to ease tension and reduce pain. Trigger points are highly sensitive, tender areas that develop in your muscles and can also cause referred pain that is felt elsewhere in the body.

During a dry needling session, acupuncture needles are inserted into trigger points to encourage the cramped muscles to release into a relaxed state. This treatment helps facilitate healing and restore normal function.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional healing technique that involves burning moxa, or mugwort, close to the acupuncture meridians to help move stagnant energy. Moxa, with its ability to increase circulation and lymphatic flow, is a naturally detoxifying and effective treatment for pain relief.

During a healing session with our Licensed Acupuncturist, Gregor Bertram, he may use a technique called “Indirect Moxibustion,” where a cigar-shaped tube of moxa is lit and burned close to the acupuncture meridian.
